Music Parents

The Music Parents support our music program and Mr. Jones in makings this a fun, rewarding, and learning experience for the students. We help the Band and Color Guard get ready for Band Reviews. We have several fund raisers throughout the year to help to supply our students with instruments, music, and anything else they need to run a successful program. We also have a lot of fun.

Some things You can do to help!

Please fill out and return the Volunteer Survey form (PDF added August 17, 2011).
  1. Uniforms - People are needed at the beginning of the school year to help fit the Band into the uniforms. Some pants need to be hemmed
  2. Band reviews - The Marching Band competes in three or four competitive Saturday reviews each year in the Fall. It's great fun to watch our kids perform, so this is one of the easiest and nicest ways to help.

For each review, the truck needs to be loaded the night before with uniforms, drums, tubas, Colorguard Flags and Letters, and other items. It then needs to be unloaded at the Band review, reloaded after the Band Review and unloaded again back at Granada.

We need parents to ride the buses with the Band as chaperones. This is an easy way to get to the Band Reviews.

At the Review site we need parents to help prepare Band for the competition. This includes checking uniforms, polishing shoes, checking hair, etc. We need parents to march with the band carrying water bottles. We also need a few dads to carry the tubas after the Band has performed.

After the Band performs we need parents to check the uniforms before they are put away.

At two of the Band reviews we feed the Band, so we need parents to help with that.
  3. Winter Parade - Like the Band reviews but without the uniforms. We still need to get the big instruments and the Letters to the Parade route.
  4. Fiesta - This is our biggest fund-raiser of the year. Fiesta is a large competition event for the Flags and the Percussion Ensemble, with up to 70 or so competing teams.
Our own ensembles compete at Livermore High and host at Granada. It is a long day and to be successful we need every possible person available. This includes Band Members, Orchestra, Colorguard and all parents.
  5. Concerts - We can always use volunteers to take donations at the door during the Winter and Spring Concerts. These concerts include both Band and Orchestra.
  6. Livermore Rodeo Parade (June) - As for the Band Reviews we need to get the truck loaded and unloaded, both before and after the parade.
