Orchestra

The Granada High School Orchestra has a rich tradition of musical excellence dating back to the 1960’s.  As a performance ensemble representing Granada High School the group has participated in CMEA State Conference sessions highlighted by concert performances. Over the years the ensemble has received countless “Unanimous Superior” ratings at CMEA Music Festivals within the Bay Section.

 

In the spring semester, the string orchestra from the fall adds select players from the band to also perform as a symphony orchestra. The Orchestra performs both classical and more contemporary classical pieces.  The group has assisted students seeking to perform a solo as part of IB program project requirements and in the past has even performed student compositions.

The Orchestra performs each semester at Granada HS and participates in the LVEF Festival of Strings every spring.  In addition to the entire Orchestra, soloists, duets, and smaller ensembles from within the Orchestra perform in music competitions during the year.
